THE GOLDEN DOME OF OPPORTUNITY! DO YOU HAVE THE COURAGE TO DREAM?

If I told you that you were surrounded by opportunity, would you believe me? Or would you simply dismiss my communication and associate me with those “influencers” who have magically become experts at selling dreams for clicks, classes, and clout? Beware of false prophets in search of profits! To believe or to not believe. That is the question.
The truth is that dreams are free. So, for those who elect to sell them, they are capitalizing on a group of consumers who’d rather invest in someone else’s imagination instead of seeding into their own. Perhaps you are skilled in a trade, or have exceptional gifts and talents, but you elect to offer them to an employer who assumes 100% of the market’s risk. When thinking about reclaiming the fruits of your trade, gift, or talent to transform your life through entrepreneurship, you are paralyzed by fear. Not because you are a coward, but because food, shelter and water are essential to survival. Certainly, I understand how important eating, sleeping, and having a roof over one’s head is. However, on the flip side, I also believe that life consists of more than just survival. Is it too much to aspire to thrive as well?
As an employee, bi-weekly paychecks, and an unhealthy level of trust in “job security” promoted a level of apathy in me that accepted company recognition as a suitable form of payment. All while struggling to make ends meet. Can anyone relate? I suppose if you relate, you have experienced the discomfort that accompanies this level of “comfort.” In fact, it becomes so unbearable that your body begins to reveal its dissatisfaction via physiological response. As your mental, physical, and spiritual health begin to deteriorate, sheer agony precedes the exit. What do you do now? Will you tap into the portion of your brain that sees reality before its realization?
Christopher Reeve, better known as “Superman,” said,
“So many of our dreams at first seem impossible, then they seem improbable, and then, when we summon the will, they soon become inevitable.”
Do you have the courage to dream?
If so, you are in the right place, the great state of Georgia! Here’s why… Georgia’s Governor, Brian Kemp, during his state of the state address, said innovation, opportunity, hard work, and a fair shot at the American Dream have a home in the great State of Georgia. Word’s like this, rolling off the tongue of the state’s Chief of the Executive Branch, should send chills down the spines of all dreamers and especially those who reside within its geographical boundaries! I can hear the critics now… “politicians are not to be trusted.” Perhaps there is some truth in their fiction and some fiction in their truth. Many people, not just politicians, struggle with saying what they mean and meaning what they say. Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately, soon enough, those individuals that purport to be something that they are not, succumb to universal law that exposes, and disposes of them as swiftly and effortlessly as it took for them to be disingenuous. Their mouth has said it, but what about their actions? Does Governor Kemp’s statements align with his actions?
According to Kemp, from day one, he has prioritized economic development, job creation, and bringing
investment to all four corners of our state. “Over the last seven years, Georgia has seen over 219,700 new jobs and more than 118 billion dollars in investment from projects worked by the state economic development team. Additionally, 64 percent of those jobs and 75 percent of those investment dollars are going to communities outside the metro-Atlanta region.”
To make it plain, Atlanta is not the only place in Georgia to make money!
Am I summoning the imagination of my dreamers yet?
The state’s budget is its spending plan to provide services to eleven million Georgians each year. Similar to other states, ours has quite a few responsibilities and an even greater range of resources to ensure that they’re taken care of. State programs like insurance premiums, income (individual and corporate), sales, motor fuel, tobacco, alcohol, property, and title ad valorem taxes ensure that 1.75 million K-12 students and 450,000 college students are educated, 51,000 state prisoners are fed and housed, 18,000 miles of highways are paved, and more than 200,000 people who are mentally ill, developmentally disabled, or addicted to drugs or alcohol are cared for.
Can you see Georgia’s environment for opportunity?
Now imagine harvesting its fruits in one or many of the state’s 537 cities and towns located within its 159 counties! Additionally, budgeted spending well below prior year revenues allowed the amount of surplus cash at the year’s end to continue rising. Georgia’s rainy-day fund and strategic reserves exceed over ten billion dollars. In spite of the state’s abundant cash reserves, the Governor is cautiously tapping into resources and has strategically utilized reserves to spend cash on construction projects instead of leveraging debt, saving the state 3.3 billion dollars in interest payments over the next 20 years. No wonder Georgia has been recognized as the #1 state in the country to do business for twelve years in a row!
No matter where you are in your journey, DO NOT STOP dreaming!
The dream provides the vision and hopefully the vision evokes action. If you see it in your mind, it is real, you just have not realized it yet. In this very moment, if life’s circumstances require that you work a job that advances another’s dream, that is ok. Hopefully, one day, you’ll be able to strategically reclaim your trade, gift, or talent, especially if it aligns with the state’s lucrative interests and responsibilities. While riding down interstates 20 or 75/85, when you pass by Georgia’s capitol, think about Governor Kemp’s words, and actions related to business. Look around the landscape and observe those paved roads, erected buildings, hung signs, or installed lights, which were all fruit to a dreamer. It is true that not all trades, gifts, or talents align with the state’s priorities. However, for those that do, if you dare to dream, calibrate that dream with real opportunities that are not sold, but cultivated under Georgia’s golden dome of opportunity.
